Barley is a grain. To become fit for the brewery it needs to be malted, which means getting wet, germinating and being roasted to the right roasting point: lighter or darker, depending on the type of beer you want to brew. Since Tuborg is what we call a bottom fermented pilsner, it’s brewed using a lightly roasted malt.
Add yeast and water to the mix
Next, a mix of water and malted barley is mashed and filtered to produce the wort. The wort is boiled, hops are added, and the mix starts to smell nice and beery.
The bitter wort is cooled down, and yeast is added. That starts fermentation and creates the alcohol in beer. Tuborg ferments around 10 degrees Celsius, taking a bit longer to brew than other beers because it’s bottom fermented. The whole thing takes about 15 days.
And now… time to add the TLC
As you may have noticed, Tuborg thrives on a very special mix of fun, music and openness. That’s exactly how we want people to enjoy our beer. And Tuborg's brewers are no different! In fact, we believe that the fun our brewers have in the process is clearly evident in the end product – and that this is the TLC that gives every Tuborg its unmistakable, refreshing and bubbly taste. Skål!
